Guardians Again

Mel had lived in Beth Anthony Park for her first few years practicing as a Guardian. She couldn't help but view it as an occupation or field instead of a vision of destiny or being-hood as some did.

Still, Beth Anthony was a quiet and peaceful town compared to living in CrossX. Trading in down time for endless action, innovation, and dynamism was fun for a while but could eventually wear on even the strongest person. CrossX had a system of different time periods in each township in its consortium. To Mel it was like a museum experiment, but to the people there it was a way to live in the past or travel to the future. As if things weren't weird enough as it was.

It was going to be a long companionship living with an obsessive literary writer who himself resembeld a pencil. Mel really had no room for his stiff vision of 'creativity.' It was almost becoming a cruel joke to be tied to another anal retentive individual, except this one had less social skills in the real world.

Chad was a technology analyist and affectionate nerd. It figures that Girdy would be paired with a geek. At least he had a sense of humor and didn't stuff himself away for all hours of the day, just most.

Being a guardian, you never know if you are paired by chance or purpose. Everyone has their own theories, much like they do on life and death.
